GREENWICH HOSPITAL EMBARKS ON A 5 YEAR ‘ENHANCE AND IMPROVE’ PROGRAMME FOR THE CORE ESTATE
IN GREENWICH TOWN CENTRE
Following a review of the regeneration project and the wider economic climate, Greenwich Hospital has concluded that the most effective way to invest in the town centre and the market is to bring forward a programme of enhancements and improvements to its estate.
This programme will include a new lighter covering for the market roof and re-laying of the cobbled floor, substantial investment in the public realm in and around the market (involving signage, paving, lighting and portico upgrading); and a wider asset management programme to improve the Hospital’s town centre properties. ‘Enhance and Improve’ reflects the Hospital’s long-term commitment to Greenwich.
Commenting today, Hugh Player, Director said:
“I am delighted that we are starting this major investment in our properties in Greenwich and I know this will have a positive impact on the town centre.”
“Alongside ‘Enhance and Improve’ we will continue to invest in the very successful promotion both locally and nationally of the market and the town centre through the Shop Greenwich website (www.shopgreenwich.co.uk) and the programme of events that Greenwich Market hosts for the local community.”
